– Hi guys, welcome back to my channel. In today's video I'm going
to be sharing with you 10 home hacks that will make
life a little bit easier, and I'm also gonna be showing you three smart home products from Honeywell that will make you more comfortable and connected to your home,
even when you're not there. For my first hack, I'm
gonna teach you a way to put on a duvet cover
without breaking a sweat. We have a super king
size bed and it is always a big ordeal to change the sheets. But there is an easier
way and that way is, first turn your duvet cover inside out and lay it on your
mattress with the opening at the foot of the bed. Then lay your duvet cover
on top of that sheet and match up the corners. You can even safety
pin the two top corners of your duvet if you want to, but I just tend to hold it really tight. Then, start at the head of the bed and start rolling the duvet like a burrito down to the foot of the bed. When you get to the end, put the end of your duvet inside the cover and unroll the burrito back
up to the head of the bed, and voila, your bed is
made and you haven't had a full-on workout. My second hack is the
Lyric Smart Thermostat. This is such a cool little gadget. It adapts to your schedule. It saves you money on your energy bills, and it makes your home smarter. This thermostat was so easy to install and it looks really stylish
with its touch screen, but my favorite thing about it by far is that it links up to a
Lyric app on your phone so you can control the heat in your home anywhere, any time. If you're out for the
day or you're on holiday and you want to turn the
heat up in your home, it is so simple to do that. You just click on the app and change it. But if you can't even be
bothered to go to the app, it has this really cool technology in it that is called geofencing. So basically when I leave my house, it will turn my heating
down to what I've chosen for it to be on when I'm out
so that will save me money on my energy bills. And then when I'm on my way home again, it knows that I'm coming home and then it turns the heat back
up so that when we get home it is at the perfect temperature for us to be nice and comfortable. How genius is that? And you can also have
it on multiple devices. So Matt also has it on his
phone and he will often turn the heat up or down when
we get into bed at night. But you can even set like night settings so that it will go down to
a nighttime level of heat, again saving you money on your bills. And it even works with the
Apple Home kit, Amazon Echo, or Google Home, which is
actually what we have. And I have found that I
have been using this a lot because my hands are
always full holding Jackson or groceries and things like that. All you have to do is shout out and turn the heat up or down. Okay Google, set the heat to 21. Hack number three is a game
changer if you ever struggle to get a full bin bag out of your bin. All you have to do is
put a bit of masking tape at the bottom back of your bin and then drill a hole through it. And that will help to
release the trapped air in it and make it much easier
to get bin bags out. My next hack is another smart product, and this is the Lyric
Wi-fi Security Camera. This provides so much peace of mind, and it basically means
that you won't miss out on anything that is
happening in your home, even when you're not there. It is so easy to install
that I even I did it, like you don't have to do any DIY, you will be able to install this yourself. And it basically is a security camera that links up again to
your phone on the Lyric app so that if there is even
any movement or sound in your house when you're not there, it will record it and you can check it and it will also notify you. So you can get an email if
anything happens in your house when you're not there, or you can even have it
running when you are here if you wanted to. I was thinking you could even use this as like a nanny cam. If I was out at work one day, I could like check in and
see what the boys are up to. And if you're on a holiday, it can even recognize like smoke
alarms and things like that and email you if there is
any movement in your home. So it is just so clever. I feel so secure having it, and it even has geofencing as well. So again, when I leave my house, it will turn on notifications
so that if anything happens while I'm out, I will know about it. It is so clever. The picture on it is so clear, and we've also had some fun with it because you can even talk both ways. So if you have pets,
you could talk to them through the camera if
you saw them on the couch or something like that
or if you had teenagers. I just think this is such a clever thing, really reasonably priced, and I have loved using it. I feel very secure having it. My fifth hack is a way to
silence noisy cupboards. So if you have cupboards
that are really noisy because the kids slam them all the time, this one is for you. All you have to do is get a hot glue gun, put a few small blobs of
glue along your cupboard, let them dry first, and then when you close them,
they will be nice and quiet. For my next hack, I want to show you our
retractable clothesline. When we moved into this house, there was a huge clothesline in the garden that was basically like a tree
that went round and round. It took up so much space that I found this retractable one online. All we did was nail it
to the side of the house, and now I can just pull out the lines as and when I need them, I can dry out clothes, and I can just retract them right back. My next hack is a brand new detector which will help protect your
home from any water damage. This is the Lyric Water
Leak and Freeze Detector, and basically it's this little
gadget that goes in your home and it monitors moisture and dampness. So if you had any leaks in your house or any frozen pipes, it will notify you and again, it links up to the Lyric app on your phone so if you are ever on holiday
or away from the house and there was a small leak that started, it would notify you direct to your phone before it became a bigger problem. And this little gadget
really resonates with me because when Matt and I were younger, when we went on holiday, we actually had a leak in our apartment and when we returned, the damage was devastating. And if I had had this
little thing installed in our apartment, I would've
been notified by email and I would've been able
to send someone over to stop the leak in our flat. So yeah water damage can just be so costly and so much hassle that I have loved this little gadget. Next up I wanted to show
you these little LED lights that we had installed
in our main bathroom. This was Matt's idea and
when we redid the bathroom, he asked the electrician to have it so that we'd have a main light and then these little LED lights. Whenever you turn off the main light now, these little LEDs just
come on automatically, and it's a perfect
nightlight for our boys. For hack number nine, I wanted
to show you our spice rack because I get so many compliments
on this little spice rack. I found it online and
basically it attaches to a cupboard door. So if you have unused
space in your cupboard, I actually use the cupboard
door of our sideboard, then you can put all of your spices there and it looks really organized
and it's very easy to use. For my final hack, I wanted to show you a really easy way to sharpen scissors. All you have to do is get
a big piece of tin foil and start folding it up. Keep folding it until it is much smaller and that way it is thicker to cut through and then just cut through
it with the scissors and this will sharpen them. Right so that is it for this video. I really hope you enjoyed it. Let me know in the comments
which out of the three smart products was your favorite. I have loved using them. Thank you to Honeywell
for sponsoring this video. There is a prediction that in the future all products will be smart, and I honestly feel like
I am well on my way now to actually living that future. I feel so comfortable, so secure, and connected by having
these three on my phone wherever I am. So yeah I'll put all the links
in the description bar below so that you can go ahead and
find them if you want to, and thank you so much for watching and I'll see you very soon. Bye guys.

  1. Fab video Emily! May I please ask where your sideboard is from? It’s gorgeous. Searching for a sideboard is taking over my life and yours is perfect! Please help haha x

  2. Just FYI: I don’t know if this is the case with Honeywell, but a lot of wifi cams are easy to hack into. So make sure it doesn’t film anything you wouldn’t want complete strangers to see! Burglars even hack wifi baby monitors to see if families are home or not. It’s super creepy…. 🙁

  3. Emily I would like to say that you are the only vlogger I have seen that makes product promos seems like not promos. Probably because you really do it for things you genuinely like. Either way you have a true talent for it! Thanks for always sharing new and useful tips!

  4. Loved it, defo will try the duvet thing I'm only 4"11 and it's exhausting lol. Noticed you have a finger holder for your phone I have the same one. Love the Honeywell timer will look into it 😊
